PURPOSE:To prevent a musical instrument or a sound source from being left sounding because of power stop of a decoder or cable disconnection during transmission of a MIDI signal by first sending active sensing data at the time of detecting the MIDI timing for reproducing. CONSTITUTION:MIDI data after error correction of an error detecting and correcting circuit 9 is demodulated by a MIDI data demodulating circuit 12. The circuit 12 demodulates MIDI data, and the circuit 12 first sends active sensing data EFH to perform the active sensing operation on the reception side when detecting a MIDI timing clock F8H for reproducing. Consequently, since active sensing data FEH is sent when the MIDI timing clock F8H is detected at the time of the start of reproducing, the occurrence of power stop of the decoder, disconnection of the MIDI cable, or the like on the way of MIDI data transmission is detected on the basis of the active sensing operation on the reception side, and the musical instrument or the sound source is prevented from being left sounding or falling into the abnormal control state. |
