PURPOSE:To obtain an organic electrolyte battery of high capacity by pulveriz ing an insoluble and non-melting base material containing a specific polyacen skeletal structure, and using the powder as positive and negative electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 and a negative electrode 2 are made of a powder compact having a specific surface area of at least 1,500m<2>/g per BET method. The compact is a thermally treated product of aromatic polymer comprising carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, has an average grain size of 5.0 to 0.1mum and a non-soluble and non-melting base material containing a polyacen skeletal structure with an atomic weight ratio of 0.5 to 0.05 between hydrogen and carbon atoms. Also, as an electrolyte 4, there is used the aprotic organic solvent of a compound capable of generating an ion for doping into the electrodes via electrolysis. According to the aforesaid construction, it is possible to obtain an organic electrolyte battery of high capacity. |
