Process in which a sheet of flexible material, such as paper, arranged in the form of a very long roll, is continuously passed firstly through a bath of a moistening liquid, such as water; secondly, through a drying device; thirdly, through a cutting device which cuts it into individual portions suitable for obtaining a rod; fourthly, through a glue-application device which applies a layer of glue to each individual portion; and, finally, fifthly, through a rolling-up device which rolls the individual portion of glued flexible sheet up on itself. Applicable to the production of substantially rigid rods from a continuous web of paper. <IMAGE>
