Cork powder agglomeration without adhesive - by depolymerisation of the suberin and subsequent polymerisation under heat and pressure

The process consists of de-polymerising the suberia present in the cork granules by treatment with alternative basic solns., acidification and drying to a fixed level of humidity. This is followed by hot pressing, causing polymerisation of various cork constituents, which act as binder. Other particles may be incorporated, or surface coating films adhered.
