TIME LAPSE RECORDING VIDEO ENCODER AND METHOD FOR GENERATING DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable time lapse recording of a medium having a relatively small capacity for a relatively long time by stopping a decrease in an interframe compression efficiency to a minimum limit in an application of time lapse recording, by multiplexing a plurality of picture inputs not having correlativity in contents of the picture. SOLUTION: An interframe compression represented by an MPEG is utilized as a compression technique. Digital information containing a plurality of video input data not having correlativity (or low correlativity) from each other is reconstituted at a GOP unit at each input. The GOP of the reconstituted digital information is filled therein with pictures from the same video inputs having high correlativity between frames. The digital information thus reconstituted is MPEG encoded, and intermittently recorded in a digital recorder.
