The subject matter of the invention is a method and a machine for the continuous manufacture of firewood from timber logs, in which method the timber is trimmed and the log piece 1, sawn to length, is fed to the firewood manufacturing machine. The aim of the invention is to create a method and to produce an arrangement for continuous and efficient manufacture of firewood. According to the invention the log piece 1 is first sawn in half, following which the halves 1' are sawn in half at least once again and the tree trunk is cut into pieces of firewood length 1''.at some time during the process. <IMAGE>
