Compositions for the treatment of the hair to reduce hair-loss, comprise a medium suitable for topical application and at least one compound of the formula: <IMAGE> in which: R1 denotes a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 17 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 8 carbon atoms, a cycloalkylalkylene group in which the alkylene group has 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an aryl group, an aralkyl group in which the alkyl group has 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an arylalkenyl group in which the alkenyl group has 2 to 4 carbon atoms, it being possible for the aryl groups to be substituted with an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alternatively an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R2 denotes hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkenyl having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, a halogen atom or a benzyl radical; R3 denotes hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or phenyl; and R4 denotes hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkenyl having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, methoxymethyl or a halogen atom or a benzyl radical, as well as the cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of these compounds.
