The composition contains an active deodorant or antiperspirant base and a perfuming base in the form of an aqueous emulsion or in microencapsulated form, the perfuming base being combined with a film-forming agent and an emulsifying agent. The film-forming agent contains either chiefly polyvinylpyrrolidone, or a mixture of the latter with one or more compounds chosen from polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, dextrins, natural or modified starch, vegetable gums, pectins, xanthans, carboxymethylcellulose, methylcellulose, hydroxyethylcellulose and lipoheteropolysaccharides. The emulsifying agent is chosen from fatty acid mono- or diglycerides, esters derived from the combination of fatty acids with sorbitol or a saccharide, or their alkoxylated derivatives, or a tartaric, citric, ascorbic or lactic acid ester. The abovementioned composition has the advantage of releasing the volatile constituent of the fragrance at the desired time through the action of a source of moisture, especially sweat. It has, in addition, the advantage of giving rise to a re-encapsulation in situ, for example on the skin itself, of active constituents in the drying phase. It is especially suitable for the manufacture of articles intended for body care, such as deodorants and antiperspirants, produced in the form of sticks, roll-on devices, smooth-on devices or aerosols and pressure atomisers.
