PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which is excellent in stability for repeated use and environmental characteristics, and which covers defects on a conductive substrate without sacrificing excellent electrophotographic properties. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreceptor, a photosensitive layer is formed on an electrically conductive support body through an undercoat layer, and the undercoat layer contains a polyimide precursor having a unit component represented by formula [I], (wherein, R1 is a tetravalent aromatic hydrocarbon group; R2 is a divalent polycyclic aromatic group of which the aromatic rings may be connected by a heterogeneous atom; n is an integer representing a polymerization degree). Thereby, the electrophotographic photoreceptor has excellent electrophotographic properties, cleaning properties, oil-resistance, and the ease of maintenance.
