Electric power generating equipment comprises a generator 1 which is driven by an air turbine 2 through a drive shaft 3 passing through wall 4 of building also having a wall 5, the walls defining an air duct 6 having an upper aperture 7. Surrounding this aperture 7 is a circular cathode ray tube 8 which is powered through a transformer. It is stated that by ionising the air, the cathode ray tube produces a vacuum which induces a flow through the turbine. In an alternative arrangement (Figure 2), a housing (5) is provided to contain the cathode ray tube apparatus (4) with a residue tray at its base (6), and air is conducted through the turbine to the apparatus (4) via ducting (2), (3). <IMAGE>
