PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce data correctly even if it is difficult to conduct seek due to defects such as flows on a reproducing position of a recording medium. SOLUTION: A system controller 9 sets a seek position near to thin side by the number of sectors of a seek offset value from a reproducing address, retries the seek, and changes the seek offset value according to the number of the retrys when a seek error to the reproducing address is detected.
