PURPOSE:To enhance the utilization of active material by using a nickel electrode obtained by filling a cobalt-plated current collector with an active material obtained by mixing a specific divalent cobalt compound with nickel hydroxide powder. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline storage battery uses a nickel electrode obtained by filling a cobalt-plated current collector with an active material prepared by mixing one of CoO, alpha-Co(OH)2, and beta-Co(OH)2 which are divalent cobalt compounds with nickel hydroxide powder. ln this alkaline storage battery, it is preferable that the plating thickness is 2-5mum. It is preferable that the current collector is selected from a nickel foil, metal fiber sinter, foam metal, and nickel powder sinter. The alkaline storage battery using the nickel electrode having high active utilization, high performance and high capacity, and high productivity is obtained. |
