PURPOSE:To obtain the title defoamer capable of automatically defoaming a slurry in a short time by evacuating the inside of a defoaming vessel provided with a slurry agitator having at least two impellers and a detector for detecting the position of the generated foam. CONSTITUTION:A slurry to be defoamed is supplied into the defoaming vessel 1 from a slurry charge and discharge port 2. A valve 8 is then opened to deaerate the inside of the defoaming vessel 1 by an evacuation device 7. As the deaeration proceeds, the air in the slurry rises in the defoaming vessel 1 as bubbles. The impeller 4 is rotated by the rotation of the agitator 5 during operation to prevent the descent of the slurry, and the ascending bubbles are broken. When the foam level further rises and the upper end of the foam reaches the tip of the foam sensor 6, the valve 8 is closed, and deaeration is interrupted. After the foam level lowers, deaeration is resumed, the process is thereafter repeated, and the operation is stopped when the degree of vacuum reaches a specified value. |
