Rotary drum assembly to hold and agitate granular and particle materials has a perforated (14) drum wall (11), with a woven material (27) covering the perforations (14) at the inner side of the drum wall (11). The woven material (14) is of wire, with its whole outer surface against the inner drum wall (11) surface and its whole surface secured to the drum wall surface. Also claimed is a drum manufacturing process, where the woven wire material (11) is sintered to the surface of a perforated metal sheet, which is to be the inner surface of the drum wall (11). The sheet, with the bonded woven wire material is bent and curved into the cylindrical drum shape, and the edges are welded together. |
