A flame-retardant olefinic resin compsn. comprises (A) 100 pts. by wt. of a mixed resin consisting of an olefinic resin and a silane- grafted polymer obtd. by grafting a silane to said olefinic resin, (B) 50-300 pts. by wt. of a hydrated metal cpd., and (C) 0.1-30 pts. by wt. of a dicarboxylic acid or its anhydride deriv. The olefinic resin is selected from low, medium or high density polyethylene, ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymers, ethylenevinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer, ethylene-methyl methacrylate copolymer, ethylne-propylene rubber and ethylenepropylene-diene rubbers.
