PURPOSE:To restrain the flow-out of the reaction gas and obtain the long-term and stable battery characteristic by forming ends of the catalyst layer, at least, in parallel with the reaction gas flowing direction with a high density. CONSTITUTION:A layer 5 having the density higher than that of a catalyst layer 2 is formed at end of the catalyst layer 2, at least, in parallel with the reaction gas flowing direction. Namely, a ribbed electrode is formed by arranging the catalyst layer 2 except for the peripheral end of a porous electrode base material 1 and arranging the peripheral layer 5 having a high density in the periphery of the catalyst layer 2. Consequently, the flow-out of the reaction gas diffused to the catalyst layer 2 through the electrode base material 1 to outside is restrained by the peripheral layer 5 having the high density, and no change of the reaction gas flow-out quantity is recognized after passing a long time. Thereby, the reaction gas quantity flowed out from the catalyst layer 2 is restrained, and an electrode for fuel battery having the stable electrode performance can be obtained. |
