PURPOSE:To prepare a polyarylene sulfide resin compsn. having improved coating properties by polymerizing an unsatd. polyester and an ethylenically unsatd. monomer in the presence of a polyarylene sulfide resin. CONSTITUTION:A resin compsn. obtd. by polymerizing 40-0.1 pts.wt. unsatd. polyester and 0.01-30 pts.wt. monomer having at least one ethylenically unsatd. bond in the presence of 100 pts.wt. polyarylene sulfide resin and a filler in an amt. of 0-30 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. the total of said polyarylene sulfide resin, said unsatd. polyester, and said monomer. An arom. alkenyl compd., esp. styrene, is a pref. example of said monomer. |
