A plastic material tamper evident closure that includes: a) a top wall b) a downwardly depending skirt that has an internal thread that engages the external thread of the container neck c) a tamper evident member that includes bridges that connect the member to the skirt. The tamper evident member further includes a sidewall that has a series of openings and a plurality of tab members connected to the sidewall that extend upwardly and inwardly. Each tab member is formed so that the base is flexible, and said tab members can bend at the base outwardly from their as-formed upward and inward orientation.
