The invention relates to a method for locking the ends of metal bands or the like. The previously known methods utilize unwieldy clasps and pliers, which pliers are of complicated design and expensive, for cutting, detaining and folding the bands. These drawbacks have now been overcome by a method in which an end 1 is threaded through at least one transverse slit 3 in a wider portion 2 of another end 1' and then folded along this and cut. The said one end 1 is folded in the direction of and tightly up against the second end 1', the ends 1, 1' are together cut by means of scissors and are detained in a clamp between the free cutting edge face 7'' of the one jaw 7' of the scissors and an opposing face 10' in the second jaw 6' of the scissors. The detained ends 1, 1' are folded by use of the scissors in the direction of the said second end 1' and are pressed for final locking against the free face of the second end 1'. The invention also relates to a band and a scissors apparatus for implementation of the method. <IMAGE>
