A blood monitor (BM) pumps blood from the patient through a dialyser (11) or a blood filter and then back to the patient. In the case of removal of water from the blood, the amount withdrawn from the blood is determined by a filtration monitor (FM) and a corresponding amount of substitute solution is supplied to the patient by a substitution monitor (SM). The device can be used both for removal of water and also for dialysis in the case of kidney failure. For this purpose, a dialysis fluid monitor (DFM) is provided. The monitors contain measurement chambers (24,33,30) whose filling or emptying times are measured in order to be able to carry out an exact assessment of the amount independently of the delivery accuracy of the pumps used. <IMAGE> |
