PURPOSE:To prevent the excessive voltage and feed the adequate current after dielectric breakdown by changing the voltage generated by an igniter circuit, estimating the sealed gas temperature based on the voltage generated when dielectric breakdown occurs, and controlling the current after dielectric breakdown. CONSTITUTION:The rectangular wave signal S1 with the preset frequency is applied to an igniter circuit 6 from a control means 7 to turn a transistor on or off, the primary winding current is fed or cut off to generate the high voltage in the secondary winding, e.g. the generated voltage is changed in three stages from a low value to a high value in sequence. When dielectric breakdown occurs at the high voltage, i.e., when the gas temperature is high, the frequency of the signal S2 applied to an inverter circuit 3 is set to a high value (e.g. about 8kHz). The voltage generating dielectric breakdown can be set to the adequate value according to such control, and the current value after dielectric breakdown can be invariably controlled at the proper value. |
