PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having high whiteness and realizing superior shelf stability of recorded images by a method wherein 3- dibutylamino-6-methyl-7-phenylamino fluorane is used as a basic dye, and a specific diphenyl sulfone derivative is incorporated in a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:When a thermal recording layer containing a colorless or light- colored basic dye and a color developer capable of producing a color by coming into contact with said dye is provided on a substrate, 3-dibutylamino-6-methyl-7- phenylamino fluorane is used as a basic dye, and a diphenyl sulfone derivative shown by a formula I is incorporated in the recording layer. In the formula I, R<1> represents a formula II, III, or IV; R<4> is hydrogen or alkyl; (p) and (q) are independently 0 or an integer 1 - 5; (r) and (s) are independently an integer of 1 - 5; R<2> and R<3> individually represent halogen, alkyl, or alkoxyl; and (l), (m), and (n) respectively represent 0 or 1, 0 or an integer of 1 - 5, and 0 or an integer of 1 - 4. |
