PURPOSE:To facilitate miniaturizing a hand-held type thermal transfer printer by printing through bringing a thermal head of the hand-held type thermal transfer printer into contact with a thermal transfer medium placed on a recording paper. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer medium 3 is placed on a recording paper 5. A thermal head 7 of a hand-held type thermal transfer printer 6 is brought into contact with the medium 3, and the printer 6 is moved, whereby parts of a thermal transfer ink layer 2 heated by the head 7 are melted, and a melted ink is transferred onto the paper 5, thereby printing. The transfer medium 3 is transparent or semitransparent, so that the printing on the paper 5 can be visually verified through the transfer medium 3. |
