PURPOSE: To enable a crown or a bridge to be precisely created, by providing a probe freely movable as well as a handle, a sensing means for locating the handle, and a sensing means for an arm deflection, and digitizing the outer shape of the three-dimensional surface of an object. CONSTITUTION: A fixture 2 is fixed between the upper teeth and the lower teeth of a patient, and a probe head 24 is put into the patient's mouth. The switch SW of a prove handle 20 is turned on, and a probe 26 is made contact with a tooth GT surface and traverse so as to cover the whole outer surface of the teeth. Encoders Ex, Ey, Ez supported by slides 12, 16, 18, respectively, output the locating data indicating the instant location of the probe handle 20, and deflecting sensors DSx, Dsy, DSz output the deflection data indicating the deflection of a probe arm 30 rotating around axes X, Y, Z, respectively. The both data are transported to a data processing system through A/D converters 42, 46. Digitizing the surface of teeth enables a crown to be immediately cut using a fraise. |
