PURPOSE:To minimize the reduction of a transfer image density even with the increase of an n-value in an n-times mode method by a method wherein an image receiving sheet is overlapped on an ink layer, and while both are fed in the condition of (speed of image receiving sheet)/(speed of recording medium) > 1, a thermal printing is conducted from the side of a recording medium, whereby a dye in the appropriate part of the ink layer is sublimated and transferred onto the image receiving sheet. CONSTITUTION:An n-times mode method, wherein printing is conducted repeatedly in the condition that with the speed of an image receiving sheet 3 set to n-times higher than that of an ink sheet (n > 1) the both are fed, is used in combination. A dye is used in a particle form. However, the dye is brought into nearly a dissolved state when the dye is used in an ultrafine particle form because the image receiving sheet 3 and an ink layer 2 are required to be in perfect contact with each other for preventing the interposition of an air layer causing an image quality reduction, such as an omission of dots. As a result, a density reduction occurs in multi-printing. Therefore, in a thermal transfer recording medium, it is preferable that the particle diameter of a dye particle is sufficiently large to perform a good multi-printing as well as smaller than the thickness of the ink layer to prevent the occurrence of irregularities on the surface of the ink layer. |
