PURPOSE: To obtain an artificial vertebral disk or a prothesis to substitute for a damaged or deteriorated vertebral column disk, by providing an upper rigid flat plate, a lower rigid flat plate, and a flat elastomer core which is intercalated between plates and adheres to the plates. CONSTITUTION: A disk 5 is provided with an upper rigid flat plate 12, a lower rigid flat plate 14, and a flat elastomer core 16 which is intercalated and adhered between two plates 12, 14. The two plates 12, 14 are interconnected by only a core 16, without other components, and the core 16 is made of a piece of solid homogeneous material. The plate 12, 14 are made flat and kidney- shaped, and have a roundish convex part and an opposite concave part. The plates 12, 14 and the core 16 perfectly overlap each other, and a thickness of the core 16 is varied depending on separation distance of vertebrae between which the disk 5 is placed. The plates 12, 14 are made of no-radiation conductive material, and the elastomer core 16 is made of a curable material which has a bending property equal to the bending property of a human disk. |
