PURPOSE:To effectively provide an earthworm dried powder exhibiting an excellent medical activity, having no side effect and capable of being stored in a stable state over a long period by grinding the living body of a filth- removed earthworm, vacuum-drying the ground product under such a condition as finally giving a specific temperature range and subsequently pulverizing the dried product. CONSTITUTION:A living earthworm is immersed in fresh water or in weak acidic water adjusted to a pH of 3-6.5 and maintained to a temperature of 6-26 deg.C until feces soil is perfectly discharged from the earthworm and the filth is removed from the body surface and digestion tracts of the earth, followed by grinding the treated earthworm to give a liquid ground product. The ground product is vacuum-dried under a vacuum degree of <=30mmHg, especially <=1mmHg, to give a vacuum-dried product, while heating the ground product stepwisely up to a final temperature of 70-80 deg.C. The method for the drying process includes a method in which the liquid ground product is degased and subsequently dried under the above-mentioned condition and a method in which the liquid ground product is frozen, vacuum-dried under the above-mentioned vacuum degree and subsequently dried under the above-mentioned condition. |
