PURPOSE:To enable examinations and diagnoses of a variety of diseases to be accomplished by using as antigen a polypeptide of the amino acid sequence corresponding to gene of retrovirus. CONSTITUTION:A polypeptide with homology between retrovirus is synthesized by solid phase process to obtain (A) a synthetic polypeptide of formula I, II or III (abbreviations such as LEL are amino acid of formula IV). Thence, the component A is injected into mice to effect immunization, thus producing (B) cells, hybridoma, of SP-2 SO1-1F, SP-2 SO2-11G or SP-2 SO3-A7. The cells B are then put to culture in a medium containing e.g. fetal bovine serum and the resultant cultured product is purified to produce (C) monoclonal antibody with, as antigen, a polypeptide of the amino acid sequence of formula V, VI or VII for SO1, SO2 or SO3, respectively. If needed, this antibody is subjected to antigen-antibody reaction with unknown pathogenic retrovirus to detect pathogenic retrovirus. |
