METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SWITCHING OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE:To switch an optical fiber during communication without giving hin drance to the communication by selecting a signal on the optical fiber after switching so as to be make the amplitude and the propagation time of the signal on the optical fiber before switching. CONSTITUTION:The amplitude of a signal branched when a 3rd optical fiber 32 is connected in parallel with a 1st optical fiber 30 has at least the amplitude of a signal amplified on the 1st optical fiber 30 and there is no propagation time difference of the signal on the 1st optical fiber 30 and the 3rd optical fiber 32 is connected in parallel with the 1st optical fiber 3c. Then the 1st optical fiber 30 is disconnected and when the 2nd optical fiber 31 is connected in parallel with a 3rd optical fiber 32, the signal branched to the 2nd optical fiber 31 has an equal amplitude of the signal on the 3rd optical fiber 32 and no propagation time difference and the 2nd optical fiber 31 is connected in parallel with the 3rd optical fiber 32. Thus, the other optical fiber is selected without giving hindrance to communication.
