PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which can rapidly reach the desired image even when the image is selected by switching the images one after another and can effectively perform image processing in the image display processing of displaying the low-resolution image, then displaying the high-resolution image, an image display method, and a program. SOLUTION: A monitor having a screen 18 is built into a printer. When a switch to display the printing image in preview is depressed, the layout image LP, the low-resolution image S and the high-resolution image P of the images instructed to be displayed are sequentially displayed on the screen 18. When the switch is continuously operated, the depression of the switch is detected at every set time and the image to be subjected to display processing is switched to the next image every time the depression of the switch is detected.
