PURPOSE:To provide a ceramics-metal composite body which is the composite body formed by inserting a molten metal by casting into a ceramics material and of which the metallic layer is characterized by contg. the columnar crystal growing in a prescribed direction. CONSTITUTION:A ceramics material having a prescribed shape is inserted into a casting mold then a molten metal is cast into said mold and is cooled to solidify. A riser gate to exert a pressure to the molten metal and a cooling means for cooling the molten metal from one point are provided to said mold so that the cooling and solidification of the molten metal poured into the casting mold are started from said one point and are ended at the riser gate. Incorporation of a large amt. of the columnar crystal grown in the prescribed position into the metallic layer is thus made possible and the fatigue characteristic of the composite body with repetitive thermal stress and external stress is improved.
