An electric spark machining apparatus including an electric spark machine (1), a pump (5) for supplying machining liquid (21) to a machining portion of the electric spark machine (1), and a cooling means (7) disposed in a machining liquid circuit (6) between said pump (5) and the electric spark machine (1), characterized by means (9) for sensing at least a temperature of machining liquid (21) flowing out from the cooling means (7) in a closed conduit between the cooling means (7) and the electric spark machine (1) and means (10,110) responsive to an otuput signal from the sensing means (9) for controlling a cooling capacity of macining liquid (21), the controlling means (10,110) being adapted to control the cooling capacity of the cooling means (7) by controlling the number of revolutions of a compressor (72) provided in said cooling means (7).
