4'-Phosphate derivs. of 4'-demethyl-epipodophyllotoxin glucosides of formula (I) and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, useful as antitumor agents, are prepd. In (I), R6= H; R1= C1-10 alkyl, C2-10 alkenyl, C5-6 cycloalkyl, 2-furyl, 2-thienyl, C6-10 aryl, C7-4 aralkyl or C8-14 aralkenyl where each of the aromatic rings is opt. substed. by halo, C1-8 alkyl, C1-8 alkoxy, OH, NO2 and NH2. Alternatively, R1= R6= C1-8 alkyl, or R1 and R6 together form C5-6 cycloalkyl; X= O or S; R7 and R8= H, C1-5 alkyl, halo (C1-5 alkyl), cyano(C1-5 alkyl) or C3-6 cycloalkyl.
