(S)- or (R,S)-4-Amino-hepta-5,6-dienoic acid and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts are prepf. by converting ethinyl gp. to allenyl gp. of amino-protected derivs. of (S)- or (R,S) aminoalkyne cpds., having formula HC=C-CHNH2(CH2)2CO2R, in organic solvents in the presence of copper salts and diisopropylamine. The obtd. cpds. are useful as irreversible inhibitors of gamma- aminobutyric acid transaminase.
