In the crushing method of the invention, the crushing jaws (58, 60) are actuated according to a cycle comprising a dynamic crushing phase including a compression step followed by an opening step for the relative opening of the jaws and, between the end of the dynamic crushing phase and the beginning of the dynamic phase of the following cycle, the crushing jaws (58, 60) are completely immobilized with respect to each other during a time duration longer than the time duration of the dynamic crushing phase of one cycle. The invention also relates to a crusher allowing to implement such method.
