For the rehabilitation of polluted waters stratified in summer, warm surface water is pumped into the depths in order in this mixing to increase the temperatures of the relatively cold water of the thermocline and of the cold water from the deep water region lying beneath and thus to diminish the differences in specific gravity and thus to enable wind and waves again to perform complete circulation of the water (before autumn is reached with cooling and storms), by which the anaerobic state of the deep water, with its ecologically negative symptoms, is ended.
