Wheel-drive unit

A wheel-drive unit has, in an axle housing (1), a hydrostatically operated motor (3), which is provided with a multi-disc brake (6) and via a gear mechanism drives an output shaft (17) in a wheel-hub housing (2). In order to make available a wheel-drive unit which saves space and can be easily assembled, it is proposed to design the gear mechanism as a planetary gear and to arrange it between the wheel-hub housing (2) and the axle housing (1), connected releasably thereto, in a manner such that it is coaxial with respect to the axis of rotation of the output shaft (17). The ring gear of the planetary gear is formed by an annular element (13), arranged between the axle housing (1) and the wheel-hub housing (2), whereas the sun gear is integrally formed in one piece on one end of a shaft (4), which is mounted in the axle housing (1), is connected to the hydrostatic motor (3) and is arranged coaxially with respect to the axis of rotation thereof. The planet gears (14) are mounted on a web (16) which is part of the output shaft (17). The wheel rim (21) is mounted on an axle flange (18) which is bolted to the output shaft (17). <IMAGE>
