A hydraulic power amplifier, in particular for skid-controlled brake systems, is presented, comprising an amplifier piston (25) guided in an amplifier housing (5) and a control valve (4) arranged in the amplifier housing (5), a lever mechanism for the control valve (4) being operable by means of an operable push rod (8) in an amplifier chamber (23), the lever mechanism, formed from a first lever (1) and a second lever (2), being provided with an intermediate member (3) which, mounted in an articulated manner on a first end area of the first lever (1) and a first end area of the second lever (2), contacts the control valve (4), and the levers (1, 2) having at their two opposed end areas bearing points (6, 7) which can be connected to the amplifier piston (25). A brake-force amplifier is thereby created in which the brake-force amplification is ensured with the use of simple, functionally reliable components in at the same time a space-saving, compact type of construction. <IMAGE>
