In a hole (6) in a brake shoe (1) for a disc brake there is fastened axially, in a manner such that it can be detached, a wear indicator (4) having a body (7), in which an insulated, electric loop (8) is situated, which wear indicator comes into contact with the brake disc when the wear limit has been reached and triggers a warning display. The wear indicator (4) is pretensioned axially against the pad back plate (2), for example by a snap ring (11), which is supported on a bevel (14) in the hole (6), in order to be able to indicate with a very low tolerance that the wear limit has been reached. <IMAGE>
