PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner and a two component developer having stable charging property of the toner and fluidity even for long-term use in a developing machine, and to provide an image forming apparatus in which a high-quality image with no stain such as fog can be obtained for a long period. SOLUTION: The toner contains at least a binder resin, a colorant and a release agent and has 0.940 to 0.965 average circularity. The toner has a recessed portion with 0.02 to 0.1μm depth from the toner surface and contains a larger amount of an externally additive added in the recessed portion than the average amount.
