PRODUCTION OF GREEN TEA EXTRACT HAVING GROWTH PROMOTING CHARACTERISTIC OF GENUS BIFIDOBACTERIUM, GREEN TEA EXTRACT AND METHOD FOR PROMOTING GROWTH

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject extract by extracting leaves of green tea with water, etc., extracting an aqueous solution of dissolved solid substances with a water-immiscible polar organic solvent and recovering the dissolved solid substances in the aqueous phase. CONSTITUTION:Green tea leaves are extracted with water or a water-miscible organic solvent to provide a solution containing dissolved solid substances. The resultant aqueous solution of the dissolved solid substances in then extracted with a water-immiscible polar organic solvent to afford an organic phase and aqueous phase and recover the dissolved solid substances in the aqueous phase. Thereby, an extract of the green tea capable of promoting growth of bacteria belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium substantially without a flavor is obtained.
