A method is specified for producing oxide-containing protective coatings on metals or metal alloys, which can be obtained in various colours by single-shot electrooxidation from a bath containing conductive additions and electropolymerisable monomers by means of pulsating direct current. These coatings are notable for high corrosion protection (anti-corrosion) potential, lightfastness, flexural strength and electrical insulation potential (capability).
