PURPOSE: To add radial force required for adjustment of an insert to a boring bar to prevent distortion and to maintain strength of a tool, by burying an adjustable insert cartridge into a recessed part in a boring bar. CONSTITUTION: A boring bar 10 rotates around a longitudinal axis. The boring bar 10 has a cylindrical form having a peripheral part 20. Plural long holes or recessed parts 25 sized in the axial direction are arranged along the peripheral part 20. Each recessed part 25 in a specific embodiment is equipped with a parallel wall 30 which is connected to it at a position of an arcuate seating face 35 opening radially to the peripheral part 20. An anvil 43 includes a top face 57 radially away from a downward bending surface 45, and a pocket 60 for receiving an indexable insert 65. The pocket 60 has two abutment walls intersecting a seating surface 75. The seating surface 75 is equipped with a tap-machined hole 80 for holding insert holding screws. |
