PURPOSE:To obtain a persistent, stable sterilizing and multiplication-inhibiting effect independent of the kind of a microorganism without alteration of metal working oil itself by irradiating a microorganism generated in metal working oil with radiation under specified conditions to effect sterilization. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism generated in metal working oil is irradiated with radiation (e.g. <60>Co) to effect sterilization at an exposure rate of 40-10,000kR/hr and a total absorbed dose of 10-5,000krad. It is desirable to irradiate with a radiation while continuously circulating the metal working oil through an irradiated place. By this method a persistent, stable sterilizing and multiplicaion-inhibiting effect is obtained independent of the kind of a microorganism and, in addition, the metal working oil itself is neither altered nor deteriorated. |
