RHAMNOSYLATION OF PHENOLIC HYDROXYL GROUP AND RHAMNOSYLATED DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound showing acting effects useful as same drug as that of a raw material compound, having improved water solubility by rhamnosylating a phenolic hydroxyl group-containing compound with a bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces. CONSTITUTION:First a phenolic hydroxyl group-containing compound (e.g. thielavin A) is converted into a rhamnosylated derivative of phenolic hydroxyl group by using a bacterium [preferably Streptomyces lavendulae subsp. lavendula SANK 64587 (FERM P-9957) or SANK 64687] belonging to the genus Streptomyces. Then the rhamnosylated derivative is collected from the reaction system. The above-mentioned SANK 64587 and SANK 64687 are novel strains and rhamnosylthielavin, etc., among the aimed rhamnosylated derivative are novel compounds.
