NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula I (R1 is H or CH3; R2 is 2-10C alkylene, oxyethylene or derivative thereof). USE:A dental adhesive excellent in hardness, compressive strength, water absorption properties, etc., and useful as an adhesive dental filling material, an adhesive resin cement, an adhesive for straightening of irregular teeth, etc., and a dental adhesive capable of improvement of adhesion between the tooth germ and a dental material, etc., or a filling material such as an ordinary composite.resin. PREPARATION:An itaconic anhydride of formula II is mixed with an almost equimolar hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate of formula III and reacted under stirring and heating at 50-70 deg.C, thus obtaining the objective compound of formula I.
