<p>A combined cathode/converter for the ionization chamber of a MWPC photon detector comprising an array of rectangular wells in a layer of lead or lead alloy, formed by spark-erosion machining. The thickness of the walls and floor of each well is so as to maximize the efficiency of the detector by increasing the surface area to volume ratio of the cathode/converter.</p> |
