A multimedia contents service system using reproduction sectional information on contents and a method thereof are provided to store one contents file only, and to service various contents requested by a user by using reproduction sectional information, thus a cost for a contents storage device is reduced. A wire/wireless communication network(101) transmits multimedia contents to a user terminal(109). A web server(103) operates and manages a service requested from the terminal(109) in connection with the network(101). A contents DB server(107) receives the contents and reproduction information on the contents from a contents provider, and stores and manages the received contents and information. A transmission server(105) extracts one or more contents selected from the terminal(109), from the server(107), and transmits and outputs the contents on the basis of the reproduction information. |
