A separator comprises a lattice with a pair of spaced parallel longitudinal members, one with rounded outer surface to engage the inner surface of a pleat fold and the other consisting of a pair of superimposed vertically spaced flat strips to support the ends of a pair of superimposed pleats. Laterally spaced transverse struts join the longitudinal members and taper from the narrowest at the inner surface of the member with rounded outer surface to greater width at the other member. At their point of juncture with the rounded member the struts are preferably cut to narrower width than the rounded member diameter to provide a tapered space between filters positioned over the separator between the struts.
