PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having good stability in fiber processing step and exhibiting excellent deodorizing performance at a small amount of deodorizing agent by including a deodorizing agent in a fiber containing fine pores oriented in the direction of the fiber axis, distributed over the whole cross-section and connected with each other to the part near the center of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber is produced by (1) polymerizing an acid component such as terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol preferably together with 0.3-15mol% of a metal sulfonate compound of formula (Y is H, etc.; M<1> and M<2> are metal; n is 1 or 2), (2) adding 0.1-5wt.% of a deodorizing agent such as activated alumina and sugar, melt spinning the mixture and subjecting the obtained fiber to drawing, false-twisting, etc., and (3) treating the product with an aqueous solution of an alkaline compound (preferably a 0.01-40wt.% aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide. etc.). |
